What makes this card Islamic

Saudi National Bank builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

Article 10 of the SNB credit card T&C governs the Tawarruq mechanism; the May 2026 fee schedule lists 'Monthly Tawarruq Fees 0.30%' in the Global Multi-Currency block.

Approved by SNB Sharia Board, under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Saudi National Bank’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Annual fee
SAR 172.50Free for Wessam Platinum, Elite and Private Banking customers.source
Supplementary card
SAR 0T&C: 'No annual fees for the first three Supplementary Cards. Over 3 Supplementary Cards: 50% of annual fees per Supplementary Card.'source
Profit rate
2.5% a month on the outstanding balanceProduct page card table: 'Monthly Percentage Rate 2.5%', 'Annual Percentage Rate (APR) 35.09%', 'Credit Card Purchase Rate 30%'. The 2026 T&C form gives 2.95% and 38.26% APR for Mass & Wessam Gold and 2.95% / 35.09% for Wessam Platinum, Elite and Private. The May 2026 fee schedule instead shows 29.82%. Three SNB documents give three different figures; the product page value is recorded because it is the card's own published table.source
APR, as the bank publishes it
35.09%An APR absorbs the annual fee and other charges as well as the profit rate, so it is higher than the profit rate above. It is the closest thing to a like-for-like cost comparison.source
Cash withdrawal
