What makes this card Islamic

Saudi National Bank builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

Article 10 of the SNB credit card T&C governs the Tawarruq mechanism. The fee schedule prices the Tawarruq component at 0.30% per month for this card.

Approved by SNB Sharia Board, under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Saudi National Bank’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Annual fee
No annual feeFree for the first card; SAR 100 for an additional primary card.source
Supplementary card
SAR 0Fee schedule: 'Supplementary Card Fees: Free'. T&C: first three supplementary cards free, then 50% of the annual fee each.source
Profit rate
2.8% a month on the outstanding balanceCONFLICTING BANK SOURCES. Banking Fees and Charges (06 May 2026), SNB Cashback Card block: APR 39.29%, Monthly Tawarruq Fees 0.30%. The 2026 T&C key facts table for the same card prints Monthly Percentage Rate + Tawaruq 2.8%, APR 32.84% and Credit Card Purchase Rate 30%; the UEFA Champions League card page, which is the same MasterCard Platinum Cashback product with a different design, also prints 32.84%. The newer fee schedule figure (39.29%) is recorded as the primary value and the 32.84% conflict is flagged in watch_outs. The 2.8% monthly rate is uncontested across both documents.source
APR, as the bank publishes it
39.29%An APR absorbs the annual fee and other charges as well as the profit rate, so it is higher than the profit rate above. It is the closest thing to a like-for-like cost comparison.source
