What makes this card Islamic

Bank AlJazira builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

This card does not appear as a column in the 'ajb Credit Cards Initial Disclosure' PDF, so its own rate and minimum-payment figures are unverified (see below). But its shariah CONTRACT is governed by the same document already recorded as this card's own tnc_pdf_url, the bilingual "Terms and Conditions of Aljazira Credit Card Agreement", which is the umbrella agreement for the whole AlJazira credit card range (8 other AlJazira cards are already recorded Tawarruq from this identical document). Clause 6-3 sets the default mechanism for any card issued under it: if the cardholder does not pay the full balance by the due date, that is treated as consent to a Tawarruq process, conducted with the customer's agent, at the monthly profit margin in the price table. AlJazira's only disclosed carve-out from this default is its three named low-limit cards (Tomoh, Digital, the currency card), whose Initial Disclosure entries show a 'Full Payment' minimum with no profit margin - Mastercard World Elite is not among them, and nothing in the agreement excludes it. Recorded from the governing document itself, not inferred from a sibling card's mechanics.

Approved by Shariah Board (supported by the bank's Shariah Group), under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Bank AlJazira’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Where these figures come from

Last checked against Bank AlJazira’s published documents on 2026-08-17. Banks change fees without notice, so treat the bank’s own document as the final word, not this page.

  • “Mastercard World Elite | The credit card offers a range of premium perks in addition to the highly rewarding loyalty program with 1.75 rewards points for every SAR 1 spent Internationally ... including airport lounge Unlimited access for more than 1,000 Airports ... price 1000 SAR - product ItemList JSON-LD on the AlJazira credit cards page”
  • “6-3 The customer has the right to choose between paying the minimum due as specified in the statement sent monthly to him or making a full payment of the total due amount. If the customer did not pay the full due amount, this will be considered as an acceptance from the customer to perform Tawaroq process to repay his due at a monthly profit margin as mentioned in the price table. Consequently, the Bank will conduct the Tawaroq process with the customer's agent to enable the bank to use the funds obtained by the customer from the process of Tawaroq to repay the total due amount on the card account statement. — Terms and Conditions of Aljazira Credit Card Agreement, clause 6-3”

What we could not verify

Bank AlJazira does not publish supplementary card fee, monthly profit rate, annual profit rate, late payment fee, over-limit fee, cash withdrawal fee, foreign currency markup, replacement card fee, takaful cover, minimum income, minimum age, maximum age, eligibility conditions, documents required, reward caps, shariah certificate, apr for this card, so we have left those blank rather than guess. If you need one of them, ask the bank directly and hold them to the answer in writing.
