What makes this card Islamic

Saudi National Bank builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

Article 10 of the SNB credit card T&C governs the Tawarruq mechanism used to settle unpaid statement balances; the fee schedule prices the Tawarruq component at 0.30% per month.

Approved by SNB Sharia Board, under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Saudi National Bank’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Annual fee
SAR 600Banking Fees and Charges (06 May 2026): 'Visa Platinum | MasterCard Platinum 600 SAR'. Same figure in the 2026 T&C form.source
Supplementary card
SAR 0Fee schedule: 'Supplementary Card Fees: Free'; T&C: first three supplementary cards free, then 50% of the annual fee each.source
Profit rate
2.95% a month on the outstanding balanceIncome-banded APR. Banking Fees and Charges (06 May 2026), Mass Segment: MasterCard Platinum and Visa Platinum 46.00% for monthly income below SAR 4,000, 39.81% for monthly income above SAR 4,000. The 39.81% mainstream-band figure is recorded. The 2026 T&C form prints 47.60% for this card, which conflicts with the newer fee schedule.source
APR, as the bank publishes it
39.81%An APR absorbs the annual fee and other charges as well as the profit rate, so it is higher than the profit rate above. It is the closest thing to a like-for-like cost comparison.source

Where these figures come from

Last checked against Saudi National Bank’s published documents on 2026-08-17. Banks change fees without notice, so treat the bank’s own document as the final word, not this page.

  • “Annual Fees | Visa Platinum | MasterCard Platinum | 600 SAR - SNB Banking Fees and Charges, 06 May 2026”
  • “MasterCard Platinum 46.00% | 39.81% ... Visa Platinum 46.00% | 39.81% (Mass Segment, income under / over SAR 4,000) - SNB Banking Fees and Charges, 06 May 2026”
  • “MasterCard Platinum / VISA Platinum | 600 | 2.95% | 47.60% - SNB Credit Card T&C 2026 key facts table (conflicts with the fee schedule)”
  • “MasterCard Platinum 1.5 | VISA Platinum 1.5 - SNB Credit Card T&C 2026, LAK points per SAR 1 (local | international)”

What we could not verify

Saudi National Bank does not publish over-limit fee, takaful cover, minimum income, maximum age, documents required, reward caps, shariah certificate, annual profit rate for this card, so we have left those blank rather than guess. If you need one of them, ask the bank directly and hold them to the answer in writing.
