What makes this card Islamic

Saudi National Bank builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

Article 10 of the SNB credit card T&C governs the Tawarruq mechanism. The fee schedule prices the Tawarruq component at 0.30% per month for this card.

Approved by SNB Sharia Board, under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Saudi National Bank’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Annual fee
SAR 200Banking Fees and Charges (06 May 2026), SNB Cashback Card Premium block: 'Annual Fees 200 SAR'. The 2026 T&C form agrees: MasterCard World Cashback Premium, SAR 200.source
Supplementary card
SAR 0T&C: 'No annual fees for the first three Supplementary Cards. Over 3 Supplementary Cards: 50% of annual fees per Supplementary Card.'source
Profit rate
3.1% a month on the outstanding balanceCONFLICTING BANK SOURCES. Banking Fees and Charges (06 May 2026), SNB Cashback Card Premium block: APR 31.19%, Monthly Tawarruq Fees 0.30%. The 2026 T&C key facts table for the same card prints Monthly Percentage Rate + Tawaruq 3.1%, APR 41.59% and Credit Card Purchase Rate 33.6%. The newer fee schedule figure is recorded; the conflict is flagged. Note the fee schedule's Cashback (39.29%) and Cashback Premium (31.19%) APRs sit in the opposite order to the monthly rates (2.8% vs 3.1%), which suggests the two columns may be transposed in that document.source
APR, as the bank publishes it
31.19%An APR absorbs the annual fee and other charges as well as the profit rate, so it is higher than the profit rate above. It is the closest thing to a like-for-like cost comparison.source
Cash withdrawal
3% of the transaction amount, up to a maximum of SAR 75. Cash withdrawal limit is 30% of the credit limit.
Late payment
SAR 50
Foreign currency spend
2% on top of the exchange rate

What we could not verify

Saudi National Bank does not publish over-limit fee, takaful cover, minimum income, minimum age, maximum age, eligibility conditions, documents required, shariah certificate, annual profit rate for this card, so we have left those blank rather than guess. If you need one of them, ask the bank directly and hold them to the answer in writing.
