What makes this card Islamic

Arab National Bank builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

anb's own credit card documents name TAWARRUQ. The Generic Credit Card Terms and Conditions carry a Power of Attorney clause in which the cardholder irrevocably assigns anb's Islamic Banking Operation as agent to purchase commodities and sell them whenever there is an outstanding balance on the card at the payment due date. The fee table row is labelled "Tawarouq Rate" and the APR footnote refers to "a monthly Tawarouq rate". The bank's July 2025 customer notice states "The terms and conditions have also been updated along with the monthly tawaruq profit for all anb credit cards starting from August 17, 2025."

Approved by Anb Shariah Board (endorses all products developed by the Islamic Banking Division), under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Arab National Bank’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Annual fee
SAR 2,000Free for as long as the account maintains Platinum classification; if the classification changes, annual fees are applied.source
Supplementary card
SAR 0Free for up to 5 cards, then 50% of the primary card fee for each additional card.source
Profit rate
Not publishedanb does NOT publish a single monthly profit rate per card. The monthly Tawarruq profit margin is set by customer risk grade: Risk Grade 1 = 2.49%, Grade 2 = 2.79%, Grade 3 = 2.99%, Grade 4 = 3.25%, effective 17 August 2025 (previously 2.20% / 2.49% / 2.79% / 2.99%). The tariff row simply reads "Tawarouq Profit - Varies based in customer risk assessment". IMPORTANT: the per-card APR figures anb publishes are footnoted "The example on APR Based on limit of SAR 10,000 and a monthly Tawarouq rate of 2.20%" - i.e. they are computed on the OLD Risk-Grade-1 rate that the same bank's July 2025 notice says was replaced on 17 August 2025. The APRs are recorded as published; a Grade-1 customer today would pay 2.49% a month, so the real APR is higher than the published figure for every grade.
Cash withdrawal
Not exceeding 3% of the transaction amount with a maximum of SAR 75, applied to ATM withdrawal and to cash transfer to a current account alike. Adding money to e-wallets is free. Cash advance limit is 30% of the credit limit, with a maximum single transaction of SAR 5,000.
Late payment
SAR 50
Foreign currency spend
2% on top of the exchange rate
Replacement card
SAR 15

What we could not verify

Arab National Bank does not publish over-limit fee, maximum age, minimum age, minimum income, annual profit rate, monthly profit rate, takaful cover, apr for this card, so we have left those blank rather than guess. If you need one of them, ask the bank directly and hold them to the answer in writing.
