CIMB Islamic builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.
Commodity Murabahah (Tawarruq), per the CIMB Islamic Bank Credit Card Product Disclosure Sheet dated 1 January 2026. MIGRATION — DATED AND CONFIRMED: ran on UJRAH until 31 December 2025; converted to TAWARRUQ effective 1 JANUARY 2026 under CIMB's Important Notice dated 21 November 2025 (Update dated 31 December 2025), a transition CIMB states is 'closely guided and monitored by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)'. No cardholder action was required; continued use is deemed agreement, including appointment of the Bank as agent for the commodity trading arrangement. No evidence of Bai' al-Inah was found for CIMB Islamic.
Approved by CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad Shariah Committee, under the supervision of Bank Negara Malaysia.
