OWNERSHIP CHANGE — VERIFIED: this bank has been MERGED into Sammilito Islami Bank PLC, a new state-owned institution scheduled by Bangladesh Bank with effect from 1 December 2025 under the Bank Resolution Ordinance 2025. Sammilito's own site states 'Merged Banks: FSIB, EXIM, SIBL, Union, GIB' and preserves the five legacy product ranges in its Products menu. The legacy brand and website were still live and serving branded products on 2026-08-17, but the issuing institution is now Sammilito Islami Bank PLC (sammilitobankbd.com). ISSUES NO CREDIT CARD AND NO CHARGE CARD — debit and prepaid only. Bangladesh Bank records that 'the fourth generation bank Union Bank PLC started its journey as an Islamic bank in Bangladesh on 07 March 2013'; 114 branches in May 2026. PROOF: the bank's own and only card charges document enumerates exactly three products — Classic Debit, Union Instant and Prepaid Classic — priced on issuance, re-issue, re-PIN and annual fees plus ATM transaction fees. There is no annual fee by credit tier, no minimum payment, no profit rate, no late fee, no over-limit fee and no cash advance fee anywhere in it. Instead the document carries a 'Minimum Balance' row, which is the opposite of a credit line.
