The only issuer of an Islamic AMERICAN EXPRESS card found in either country — City Bank is the Amex issuer in Bangladesh, and every other Islamic card in this dataset is Visa or Mastercard. NAMING CORRECTION: the live brand for the Islamic window is 'City Islamic', not 'City Manarah'; no Manarah branding was found on any page fetched. It runs on a fully separate host, islamic.citybankplc.com, with its own product tree and its own dedicated fee sheet ('City Amex Islamic Credit Cards', updated 1 June 2026) — so it is a genuinely separate product line, not a rebadge. Two credit cards: City Islamic Gold American Express Card and City Islamic Blue American Express Card, plus a City Islamic American Express debit card. Pricing is ujrah-style: a monthly maintenance fee scaled in BDT 10,000 units of dues (BDT 400 for the first BDT 10,000, BDT 175 for each further unit) rather than an interest rate, with a minimum due of BDT 500 or 3% of closing balance. It publishes a downloadable Prohibited Merchant List for Shariah screening — one of only two issuers in this dataset (with Faysal Bank in Pakistan) to screen merchants explicitly. Its card fee PDF has a real text layer, which puts it among the better Bangladeshi disclosures.
