What makes this card Islamic

Al-Arafah Islami Bank builds this card on a Qard Hasan + Ujrah contract. The bank lends you the money and you pay back exactly what you borrowed, not a penny more.

Revolving Qard with a flat monthly fee, named explicitly by the bank. True revolving credit card: 'He/she can pay full, minimum or partial payment', minimum payment Tk. 500 or 5% of total due whichever is higher. THE PLATINUM TIER IS SUBDIVIDED INTO 24 SUB-TIERS in the Schedule of Charges — Platinum, then Platinum 1+ through Platinum 23+ — each with its own escalating Monthly Service Charge. The Monthly Maintenance Fee stays at Tk. 570 throughout; the Service Charge rises from Tk. 1,400 (Platinum) by Tk. 1,000 per sub-tier to Tk. 24,400 (Platinum 23+), giving total monthly charges from Tk. 1,970 to Tk. 24,970. This ladder is how the bank scales its return with the size of the facility while keeping every charge a fixed money amount rather than a percentage — the structural device that keeps a revolving qard Shariah-compliant.

Approved by Al-Arafah Islami Bank Shariah Board, under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank.

What you get back

The cap is the part that matters

Lounge usage per year: 4 times for Platinum and Platinum 1+; 6 times for Platinum 2+ and above.

Other benefits

  • Complimentary access to Balaka Lounge and worldwide international airport lounges — and each supplementary cardholder gets the same access
  • No annual fee in year one; waived thereafter on 18 transactions a year
  • First supplementary card absolutely free
  • Dynamic currency facility
  • Instalment facility to convert usage into easy instalments
  • Per-day spend limit of BDT 200,000, extendable to the full credit limit on request
  • Free auto-debit of the minimum or total amount due from an AIBL account

Before you apply

  • THE 24-SUB-TIER SERVICE CHARGE LADDER IS THE THING TO UNDERSTAND. Your monthly cost is set by which Platinum sub-tier you are placed in, from Tk. 1,970 to Tk. 24,970 a month. The bank does not publish what determines your sub-tier.
  • The lounge benefit differs by sub-tier: 4 visits a year for Platinum and Platinum 1+, 6 visits for Platinum 2+ and above — so the marketing claim of '6 times in a year' does not apply to the entry Platinum tier.
  • No grace period is published.
  • Pre-closure fee of Tk. 500 if closed within the first year.
  • 2% international markup; 1% on mobile-wallet transfers.
  • The card is contractually restricted to 'purchasing Shariah allowed products and services'.
  • Schedule of Charges in use is effective 13 November 2024; the bank's credit-card charges page renders its documents as images with no links, so a newer version may exist unread.
  • Use aibl.com.bd — al-arafahbank.com times out from outside and al-arafahbank.com.bd is NXDOMAIN.
