Bahrain's first Islamic bank and the GCC's fourth Islamic banking entity, established 1979. Licensed as an Islamic Retail Bank by the CBB and listed on Bahrain Bourse. NBB has made an offer to acquire up to 100% of BisB's ordinary shares — BisB's own site carries a standing 'NBB Offer to Acquire BisB Shares' section, and NBB's site publishes 'Success of National Bank of Bahrain B.S.C.'s offer to acquire up to 100% of the issued and paid up ordinary shares of Bahrain Islamic Bank B.S.C.'. BisB's Vice Chairman, Mr Usman Ahmed, is Group CEO of NBB. BisB prices its credit cards as a fixed maximum monthly Service Fee in BHD (waivable at the Bank's discretion based on repayment behaviour) rather than a percentage profit rate, and routes both late payment and over-limit fees to charity. Its credit card T&C state that AAOIFI Shari'a standards govern and prevail over conflicting Bahraini law, and that the CBB's Central Sharia Board is the authorised expert on disputes. Card count of 6 includes the 'Gold' tier, which is priced in the current fee schedule but is not marketed on any BisB product page.
