What makes this card Islamic

The bank does not name the contract

We could not find Southeast Bank (Southeast Tijarah) stating which Shariah contract this card is built on. That is not the same as saying the card is non-compliant, but it does mean you cannot check the reasoning for yourself. Ask the bank which structure it uses, and for its Shariah board’s approval, before you apply.

Approved by Southeast Bank Shariah Supervisory Committee, under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank.

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Southeast Bank (Southeast Tijarah)’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Annual fee
Tk 10,000Annual Fee – Primary. VAT applies per Government rules on realised commissions and charges.source
Supplementary card
Tk 2,000Joining Fee BDT 2000 against the local limit, one time. A further annual fee of BDT 10000 applies against the foreign limit.source
Profit rate
Not publishedNO INTEREST OR PROFIT RATE IS PUBLISHED FOR THIS CARD — and that absence is itself the evidence, because every conventional tier in the same document carries an explicit 'Interest Rate | 25%' row and the Tijarah table has none. The carrying charge is instead a 'Monthly Maintenance Fee' of BDT 200 per BDT 10,000 slab of domestic outstanding, and USD 5 per USD 100 of international outstanding. No profit-free or grace period is published.
Cash withdrawal
Charged as a slab, not a flat fee or a percentage: 'Cash Advance Fee from ATM — Local Currency: BDT 230 per BDT 10000 outstanding slab'. Note this is the same rate across all five Tijarah tiers.
Late payment
Tk 1,000BDT 1000 / USD 10.
Replacement card
Tk 1,500
Takaful cover
An 'Insurance Fee' of BDT 0.35 per BDT 100 of outstanding slab is charged. The bank calls it insurance, not takaful, and names no takaful operator.

What you get back

Other benefits

  • Dual currency — every fee is quoted in BDT for the domestic limit and USD for the foreign limit
  • Priced in the bank's own separate Islamic section of the Schedule of Charges, with no interest row

Before you apply

  • REVOLVING vs CHARGE CARD IS UNVERIFIED. Neither the Schedule of Charges nor any reachable page states a minimum payment, and the card microsite's Terms & Conditions page is blocked by the bank's own WAF. Do not assume you can carry a balance until the bank confirms it.
  • The Shariah contract governing the card is never named. The only structurally-Islamic feature on the marketing pages is the MUKAFA rewards programme routing points to sadakah (charity) — the benefit lists are otherwise copied verbatim from the conventional siblings, with the same lounge counts, the same buy-one-get-one at 11 hotels, the same Friday cashback at 8 super shops and the same 7 EMI types.
  • NEARLY EVERY FEE IS CHARGED PER BDT 10,000 SLAB OF OUTSTANDING, not as a one-off. Cash advance, card-to-wallet, internet-banking fund transfers and card cheques all work this way, so a persistent balance multiplies several charges at once.
  • An 'Insurance Fee' of BDT 0.35 per BDT 100 of outstanding slab applies. The bank calls it insurance, not takaful, and names no takaful operator.
  • The bank's own Shariah Supervisory Committee page renders 'No data found.' — no member list is published.
  • TIER LIST DISCREPANCY: the Schedule of Charges prices FIVE Tijarah tiers (Signature, World, Platinum, Titanium, Gold) but the cards microsite advertises only FOUR (Mastercard World, Visa Signature, Visa Platinum, Visa Gold). Titanium is priced but not marketed.
  • VAT applies per Government rules on realised commissions and charges.

Other conditions
NOT PUBLISHED for the credit cards. Neither the products page, the premium-cards page, the fees page nor the Schedule of Charges states an income floor, an age band, or whether self-employed applicants are accepted. Only the Tijarah Islamic VISA DEBIT card states an age rule (minimum 18 to avail the full travel quota limit) and an account requirement (Mudaraba Savings, Al-Wadiah Current or Mudaraba Special Notice Deposit).

Where these figures come from

Last checked against Southeast Bank (Southeast Tijarah)’s published documents on 2026-08-17. Banks change fees without notice, so treat the bank’s own document as the final word, not this page.

What we could not verify

Southeast Bank (Southeast Tijarah) does not publish shariah contract, monthly profit rate, annual profit rate, over-limit fee, foreign currency markup, minimum income, minimum age, maximum age, documents required, reward caps, best for, apply, terms and conditions, shariah certificate for this card, so we have left those blank rather than guess. If you need one of them, ask the bank directly and hold them to the answer in writing.
