What makes this card Islamic

Bank Albilad builds this card on a Murabahah contract. The bank buys the thing you want, then sells it to you at a stated cost plus a stated profit, payable later.

Bank states plainly: 'Tamkeen Plus credit card is based on murabaha financing where goods are purchased and sold with the customer's consent to issue the card.' The application flow on the Albilad App requires the customer to buy the commodity, sign the commodity contract and promissory note via Nafith, then sell the commodity - the classic commodity-Murabaha card mechanic.

Approved by Bank Albilad Shariah Committee, under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

What it costs

Every figure below comes from Bank Albilad’s own published documents. Where the bank does not publish a number we say so rather than estimate it.

Supplementary card
SAR 0'Annual fee for Supplementary Card 0'.source
Profit rate
1.8% a month on the outstanding balanceBank states 1.8% per month. No APR is published for the Tamkeen Plus range on the English product pages - the bank publishes only the monthly rate, so profit_rate_annual_pct is left null rather than annualised by us.source

Before you apply

  • 1.8% per month is the headline rate; Albilad does not publish an APR for Tamkeen Plus, so the true annualised cost is not disclosed on the English pages.
  • If the commodity contract or promissory note is not signed in time via Nafith the application is cancelled automatically.
  • Cash withdrawal is capped at 30% of the card limit and costs 3% + VAT up to SAR 86.25.
  • Bank Albilad does not name the card scheme (Visa/Mastercard) on this product page, so the network is unrecorded.

Bank Albilad does not publish annual profit rate, late payment fee, over-limit fee, foreign currency markup, takaful cover, minimum age, maximum age, reward caps, terms and conditions, network, apr for this card, so we have left those blank rather than guess. If you need one of them, ask the bank directly and hold them to the answer in writing.
