What makes this card Islamic

Affin Islamic Bank Berhad builds this card on a Tawarruq contract. The bank sells you a commodity on credit at a marked-up price, you sell that commodity to somebody else for cash, and the cash becomes your spending limit.

Affin Islamic names three contracts working together. Tawarruq: 'two sale and purchase contracts where the Customer purchase the Commodity from the Bank at a mark-up sale price (Bank's Sale Price) on a deferred payment basis and subsequently sells the Commodity to a Commodity Supplier for cash at the Bank's Purchase Price with the objective of obtaining cash.' Wakalah: dual-agency, the customer appoints the Bank as agent to buy the commodity from the Bank and then sell it to another Commodity Supplier. Wa'd: the customer executes a Purchase Undertaking to buy a specific Shariah-compliant commodity (crude palm oil, rubber or any other commodity) at the Bank's Sale Price. No bai' al-inah is named anywhere in the October 2023 PDS.

Approved by Shariah Committee of Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, under the supervision of Bank Negara Malaysia.

Other conditions
The October 2023 PDS does not state a minimum income per card; the BNM floor of RM24,000 per annum applies (BNM/RH/PD 028-141 para 11.1). PDS states: 'if your annual income is RM36,000 or less, the facility limit approved shall be up to two (2) times of your monthly income.' CAUTION: the RM100,000 / RM48,000 / RM36,000 / RM24,000 figures in Affin's annual-fee table are ACCUMULATED MINIMUM SPENDING thresholds for the subsequent-year fee waiver, NOT income requirements - the PDS footnote reads '**Accumulated minimum spending per annum (between the Credit Card-i issuance and renewal date) is inclusive of retail and cash withdrawal transactions.' Aggregators frequently misreport these as income floors.
