What makes this card Islamic

Qatar Islamic Bank builds this card on a Murabahah contract. The bank buys the thing you want, then sells it to you at a stated cost plus a stated profit, payable later.

QIB settles the outstanding card balance through an 'International Murabaha' on a commodity and metal portfolio held in common with partners; each Murabaha has a maturity of one month (QIB Cards T&C clauses 25-26). The charge is presented on product pages as a monthly 'Profit Rate' on the unpaid outstanding; QIB's Digital Credit Card page labels the identical 1% charge 'Murabaha Profit'.

  • QIB's page for this card states a QAR 100 card cancellation fee.
  • The page labels the 1% charge 'Murabaha Profit', which is the clearest naming of the Shariah structure anywhere in QIB's card range.
  • QIB's standard card fee table carries a 2% charity fee on late payment (verified on the Infinite, Visa Platinum, Gold, Ladies and Mastercard World pages); it was not separately confirmed on this card's page, so it is recorded as unverified here.
  • Currency conversion reaches 3% for currencies outside USD, GCC, GBP and EUR.
