ISSC
Internal Shariah Supervision Committee: the in-house scholar panel required at Islamic banks in some countries, notably the UAE.
ISSC is the term used in the United Arab Emirates for a licensed institution's own Shariah committee, which sits under the national Higher Shariah Authority. The concept is the same as a Shariah supervisory board; the label signals a two-tier system where a national authority sets the rules and the in-house committee applies them to products. The detail of the UAE framework was not verified in this research pass and should be checked against the Central Bank of the UAE's own material before publication.
